Eggs aren’t exactly a kid-friendly food. Even though they are super healthy and packed with protein, it’s hard to get the little ones to eat them, especially when they are hard-boiled. But hard-boiled eggs are a quick and easy snack that can definitely be delicious. So, the trick the getting kids to eat them is simple: turn them into something fun.
In the video above, food expert El Guzii is showing us how to mix things up in the morning and get kids excited about breakfast by making your regular hard boiled eggs look like dinosaur eggs.
To get started, begin by gently cracking the hard-boiled egg, but remember, you want to keep the shell on, so don’t peel it off. Then, place it in a zip bag and add a few drops of food coloring. This is where you can get creative and personalize the egg to match your child’s favorite color. As they sit in the back, massage the color into them. After, place them in the refrigerator for two hours. Finally, you’ll just peel off the shell.
But what’s an egg without a nest? El Guzii has a clever way to take this idea to the next level. To create the nest, all you have to do is shred some sweet potatoes and mash them up. You’ll place a little bit in a muffin tin, and bake for about 15 minutes.
To complete your presentation, place some spinach on a plate. Then, add your nest on top, and place your dinosaur egg inside. Pretty genius, huh?
